LEARNING CIRCLES

Sacred Shades of Sand
Facilitator: Steph Byrd

Color is a visual reminder of the world around us. Different colors conjure up altered emotions and have meanings associated with them. This class will look into the meanings behind color and how color can be added to rituals and altar space. We will be using colored sand to make bottle sand art that can be added to altar spaces and help boost energy. If you would like to bring your own bottle from home feel free, but some bottles will be available to use. Limited to 7 people.

The Wiccan Rede
Facilitator: Tony Brown

There are eight words that define and guide the ethics of Wiccans and many other Neopagans. Most people know them, and many people claim to follow them, but how much do we really know about the history and meaning of "An it harm none, do as ye will?" In this learning circle, you'll dig into the origins and application of the well known aphorism

Lanterns: Illuminating the Path of Your Soul
Facilitator: Steph Taylor

Lanterns and sacred lighting have a long and varied role in spiritual worship, magick, and paganism. They light the way to the sacred; reveal inner truths; and cast light where it is needed. Come join me in making a "stainglass" lantern and explore how it can be used to shed light on your spiritual path. This class will look into the history of lanterns and how you can use them to enhance your soul's path.

Small Altars, Big Wishes
Facilitator: Violet Grimm

MWe all are familiar with the use of altars, but sometimes we just don't have the room! A shrine can be a very personal, very powerful representation of our desires, dreams, and wishes. They can represent a single idea or theme. In this class, we will be exploring what shrines can mean and creating our own mini versions. Some materials will be provided, and we encourage you to bring anything that you would like to add – paint, stones, etc.

Crafting a Book of the Soul
Facilitator: Kim Burton

Not a writer? Not an artist? No problem-we'll discuss using found images, words, art, and objects as well as book-making. All attendees are encouraged to bring writing (yours or others), found objects, pictures, etc. if you'd like to incorporate them into your Book of Soul.

Creating a Happy Place
Facilitator: Kelly Harrell

Using color, paper, drum, and imagination, we answer the etheric call of the Happy Place! Our ability to create what we want lies in our ability to imagine our wildest dreams, and to feel their truth. This circle is devoted to tapping into that primal creative force, through learning a fun technique in shamanic journeying.

Revitalizing our Minds and Bodies
Facilitator: Chrissy Forsythe

Come join us this morning for some light stretching as we work out the kinks and muscles we have worked this weekend at play. This is completely optional and stretching should be done at your own level of comfort.

Make, Bake & Take Your Intentions Home
Facilitator: Beth Fox-Ebert

When we create in the kitchen, we can add some magic into our baking. For this workshop each person will be creating and baking a loaf of quick bread. As we add our ingredients we will also be adding in positive energy . The flavoring ingredients you add will be based on your tastes and also on your intentions for your magic work. The result will be a wonderful tasting bread that creates magic in your mouth as well as in your world.

Who We Are:

Beth strives to shed positive light on Paganism as a living practice. A natural touch and psychic healer, she draws mainly on Egyptian and Celtic paths to teach workshops and lead rituals at various pagan events. Beth has served an active role in the local and state spiritual community coordinating multiple pagan events over the past 15 years. Beth proudly boasts a den of four children and eight wonderful pagan grand tots.

Stephanie has lived in North Carolina since 2003. Before that she lived in the DC area. Her love of different religions made her look for something that could meet her spiritual needs. Her looking lead her to the eclectic path she follows now. Her path has allowed her the freedom to pull from many paths and to follow her heart with the life she leads. Stephanie is currently going back to school to complete her degree in Bio Anthropology. She enjoys art of different medium, baking, gardening and reading just to name a few.

Tony Brown has been an Eclectic Wiccan for about twenty years, and has served the NC Piedmont Church of Wicca as clergy for the last dozen or so of those. Although his practice is eclectic and varied, Tony is especially devoted to Dionysos, the Greek God of rebirth, transformation, tragedy, comedy, unresolved paradox and wine.

Stephanie Taylor having followed a Celtic path since 1999, discovered several years ago that Heathenry was what she was looking for (or to be better put, Freyr smacked her upside the head with a cosmic two-by-four). Stephanie continues her study of pre-Christian Celtic societies in addition to her other interests such as seidhr, runes, spinning, mead making, and much more. Stephanie has many years of experience serving as a Board member of Carolina Spirit Quest as well as Iðavelli Hof. Stephanie loves the fiber arts and how thy can enhance aspects of ritual and other spiritual works. She currently lives in Durham with her four legged children, Peanut (her black cat) and Eva (her hyper puppy).

Violet Grimm has lived in North Carolina for most of her life, since the age of 4. She grew up in the back woods area, where she spent most of her time among trees and wildlife. Violet learned about paganism at age 13, and practiced mostly solitary, but she occasionally rides her broom out of the closet to join in community fun like Winter Quest and Spring Quest. She lives with 3 cats, 1 Betta named Captain Sassy Britches, her best friend, her husband and a whole lot of books. Violet is an arts and crafts witch, always wanting to dish up some hocus-pocus with her hands.

Chrissy is an eclectic Pagan from Pittsboro, NC. She started on her path in 1998 and has been slowly incorporating much of what she cherishes into her spiritual life. For her, that is art, music & dance. Although she doesn't dance nearly as much as she would like, she likes to dance and encourage others to dance with her. She chose Bellydance in particular because of the deep connection to the Goddess. The dance invokes a feeling of beauty, power and strength on the inside as well as being connected to all that surrounds her. Chrissy loves to share those aspects with others.

Kim Burton's  spiritual practice is guided by the desire to learn how one's life can achieve its highest spiritual ideals. For 30+ years, she has conducted personal research and professional scholarship related to historical and modern interpretations of Pagan/fringe traditions, including Garderian, Alexandrian, and Dianic Wicca; Eygptian, Greco-Roman, and Ritual Magic; Norse Heathenism; Gnosticism and Kabbalah. Her personal practice is generally semi-solitary, eclectic/Celtic Wicca-the Morrigan and Athena are longstanding touchstones for her magic, prayer, and meditation. The study and practice of tarot, herbalism, animal behavior, kitchen witchery, and fine art, and dance are all aspects of her Craft. Professionally Kim has instructed medieval, Renaissance, and fantasy literature courses as well as writing across the disciplines. She continues to learn every day.
